Customer Segmentation Data Experian Ireland have access to a number of data sources and segmentation systems which can be used to segment, analyse or profile your existing customer database.


Classifications

MOSAIC

MOSAIC is the leading customer segmentation system available. It is available in 20 different countries throughout the world and classifies more than 800 million people into distinct groups which can be used by organisations to drive intelligent decisioning.

· Republic of Ireland MOSAIC

Irish MOSAIC is a sophisticated new neighbourhood segmentation system developed for the Republic of Ireland by Experian. The MOSAIC classification uses data from the Census and other third party data sets to identify 32 neighbourhood types, each displaying distinctive consumer purchasing behaviour, lifestyles and socio-economic characteristics. MOSAIC is designed to improve targeting and help companies pursue a successful micromarketing strategy. It enables you to target at the individual level through our National Consumer File. With MOSAIC companies can for the first time in the Republic of Ireland effectively target prospects to maximise the effectiveness of their marketing activities.

Groups and Types

Irish MOSAIC defines 10 distinct groups of consumers, which are further broken down into 32 detailed types. Some examples of the Groups included are 'Established Affluence' who are found in large detached homes in the most attractive and wealthy areas in the country; and 'City Singles and Sharers' whose cosmopolitan environment reflects a desire to be closely involved with the animation of city life.

· Northern Ireland MOSAIC

Northern Ireland MOSAIC is a geodemographic classification of neighbourhoods in Northern Ireland. Each of the 44,219 postcodes has been allocated to one of 36 types and one of 9 groups. This covers over half a million households and 1.6 million people. This classification provides a detailed understanding of Northern Ireland consumers by the area in which they live. It was developed specifically for the province and takes account of the fact that the population differs significantly from that of Great Britain and from the Republic of Ireland. It is the only geodemographic classification available for Northern Ireland which does this. Field research was undertaken to check each of the types and local knowledge was sought to verify and describe the types. The first version of Northern Ireland MOSAIC was developed in 1991. The current classification was completely rebuilt in 1995 and updated with new postcodes and household & population estimates in 1999 & in 2000. Northern Ireland MOSAIC is particularly useful to companies with business in Northern Ireland or who are looking to expand there.

List Rental

Experian's databases provide geographic, demographic, financial and behavioural information on Irish consumers. The information enables us to provide highly targeted lists of potential customers, as well as enhance the information held by clients about existing customers. Our sophisticated analytical and processing techniques are used to select precisely defined prospect groups and to track emerging trends in purchasing behaviour. Clients can make selections based on the profiles of their most profitable customers or select from specialised lists, such as professionals, charity donors or Internet users.

· The National Consumer Database

Experian hold the names and address of more than 2.9 million consumers in the Republic of Ireland. These are selectable by geographic area, age, gender, household type and household composition for mailing purposes. Experian hold a large database of suppressions which will be run against all mailing lists in advance of supply. This includes the MPS (Mail Preference Service), gone-aways and deceased records. Using this file helps you reduce the costs associated with returned mail.

· Ireland Life Survey

The second largest lifestyle survey in Ireland captures information on more than 100,000 individuals on topics such as: age, income, newspaper readership, banking, charity donations, interests and activities. The lifestyle data sources use large-scale surveys to provide unique insight into the buying habits and interests of consumers.

· GeoDirectory

Experian are a Value Added Reseller (VAR) of the GeoDirectory. GeoDirectory is the biggest infrastructural development in database management since the creation of the original mailing list. It provides a standardised, accurate database containing the precise geographic location (X, Y co-ordinates) and the exact postal address for every home and business in Ireland. The development is the result of the combined expertise of Ordnance Survey Ireland and An Post. Together they are checking every building and address in Ireland to compile the definitive GeoDirectory database. This is great news for anyone who uses an address or mapping database. From now on, every database and mailing list in the country can be built on or corrected to pinpoint accuracy with GeoDirectory references.
